Consequences
Restrictions - if a young person is up too late at night or not ready to attend the programme by 8.45am they are confined to the building for the day. Unsafe behaviour may also lead to a restriction.
Warnings - if a young person is verbally abusive or offensive they will be asked to stop. If they persist they will be given a warning. Use of mobiles during programme time will also lead to a warning. If three warnings are given in one week, a serious warning will be given.

Serious Warning - serious disregard of rules, unsafe behaviour or disregard of staff authority will lead to a serious warning. This lasts for seven days. If any further incidents occur in this time, the young person will be sent from the Unit on disciplinary leave. Staff will offer help to any young person who is on a serious warning so that they can find ways of understanding and changing their behaviour.
Reflective Leave - disregard of rules while on a serious warning or any serious unsafe behaviour will result in exclusion from the Unit on reflective leave. If this occurs the young person concerned can only return to the Unit after a meeting with staff, usually on a Friday morning. The period of leave is for the young person to think about why he/she has been sent out and to consider if they still want to use what Simmons House can offer.
