Simmons House Adolescent Unit

Information for Adolescents, Carers & Professionals

Treatment & Treatment Plan

Simmons House provides many different types of treatment. These include medical, psychiatric, psychological, educational, group-work, occupational, family and individual parts. Evidence-based practice and experience underpin all of the treatment programmes.

Videotaping of family therapy meetings and having members of the team observing is becoming more common practice at Simmons House. This is always done with the full consent of the young person and his/her family/carers.

Around the time of admission, or soon after, the plans for treatment will usually be discussed and agreed with the young person and his/her family/carers.

A copy of the treatment plan will usually be provided to the adolescent and his/her family/carers. This treatment plan will be jointly signed by the case manager, and the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.

Treatment plans will specify:

  1. Name of case manager and consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist.
  2. Name of nurse keyworkers.
  3. Therapeutic components of treatment package.
  4. Expected therapeutic outcomes.
  5. Date of the next case review
    – usually three months from the admission conference-.
